Hello, My name is Ahmad Mohammed Hassan Salah, a 33-year-old man from Gaza, Palestine. Under the sky of Gaza, amidst the war and shelling, begins my story. I lived my life in the northern part of Gaza with my wife and three children, dreaming of a secure future for my small family. Nada, my seven-year-old eldest daughter, loves to draw, though her colors have disappeared amid the rubble 🎨💔. Mohamed, my five-year-old son, still dreams of playing in a garden untouched by bombs 🛝💔. As for Huda, my two-year-old, she has started uttering her first words amid the sounds of explosions 🍼💔.

The tragedy began one night of the war when I was forced to leave my home under continuous bombardment 💣😔. I carried my children and my anxious wife, running through the debris and darkness in search of a safe haven 🌪️. Our journey was fraught with dangers, as we left everything behind: our home, memories, and even our money and food 🏚️💔. After a long journey, we found ourselves in southern Gaza, where we set up a small tent as a temporary refuge ⛺😞.

The tent, small as it was, became our new world. Without mattresses to shield us from the cold nights or blankets to protect us from the rain 🌧️❄️, life was harsh. The children slept on the ground, and I struggled to provide any food to feed my family 🍞💔. But the war showed us no mercy. After only three months, we were forced to move once again, this time to central Gaza. The Israeli army described it as a "safe zone," but the shelling followed us like an unrelenting shadow 💔💣.

More than a year has passed, and my family and I continue to live under bombardment and destruction 🌋💔. Each day brings with it a new story of suffering. Food is scarce 🍽️, water is contaminated 🚱, and fear never leaves my children's hearts 😔💔. Nada has started asking, "When will this war end?" 😢. Mohamed tries to comfort his mother, who weeps in silence 😭💔. As for Huda, she knows no world other than one filled with terrifying sounds 🥺.

I also suffer from a chronic illness, and I have a medical report confirming my condition 🏥💔. However, the pain of my illness is less than the anguish I see in my children's eyes 💔😔. I try to be strong, but I sometimes break down when I cannot provide food for them 🥺. My wife stands by me, trying to bring hope, but even hope has become a rare commodity 💔.

Amidst the devastation, I want to send a message to the world: "We are human. Our children deserve a better life. We just want safety. All I want is to sleep one night without fearing that my children will wake up to the sound of explosions." 🙏💔

Must-read Destiel fics - my superduper Nov. 5th rec list

Three years ago, on the blessed day of November 5th, 2020, I had:

never seen an episode of SPN,

only had a vague inkling of what the two pale coconuts were on about,

and I hee-heed and ha-had with the rest of Tumblr about the love confession scene and the Internet errupting in an unparalleled craze

At first I thought, that's it.

Then ... I got curious. I watched some YouTube Destiel supercuts. I read some fic (I think @andhumanslovedstories beautiful Cas/OC fic was my entry point?). I read meta. I watched some more YouTube scene packs. I read even more fic. I watched some of S4, some of S1, some random fan fav episodes. And then Destiel lodged itself so deeply, thouroughly into my brain that it took over and hasn't relinquished control in the last two years. The most tenacious, pervasive brain worm to date.

This ship got it all, and this fandom got it all, and there's such delightful, powerful, batshit crazy, romantic, expertedly crafted fanfic out there, it's like being a starving child in the world's biggest candystore.

So without further ado, here's some of my very favorite fics from this infinite trove, with all my thanks to the wonderful writers who keep delighting and awing me with their dedication and craft. There'll of course be some recency bias at play but you can browse my bookmarks over here to chose from over 100 excellent and well-curated SPN stories.

💕CATEGORY: SWOONWORTHY💕

Wildly romantic fics that warm you up from the inside.

It Won't Be Perfect by someonetoanyone (10K words) Summary: Dean daydreams about what it'd be like to let himself love Cas freely.

Why I love it: the humor, the spot-on characterizations, and the quintessential late season Destiel-ness of being so deeply love with your best friend that it's too big to actually do anything about. Just. So warm.

Rock Lobster by Ginger Fail (13K) Summary: Cas decides that the lobsters Dean planned to cook need to get back home. Impromptu beach vacation ensues!

Why I love it: This road trip story is fresh and invigorating like a sea breeze! Fun, entertaining and full of deep, deep fondness.

Seek to Know You Better by ahurston (32K)

Summary: On a road trip, Dean and Cas play the 36 Questions That Lead To Love.

Why I love it: They’re so deliberatedly, carefully starting a relationship here. They try so hard to bridge the gaps and meet each other halfway. A very mature take on love that feels nourishing.

Fics that make you go BARK BARK BARK.

samson went back to bed by piesexuality (9k, @twoheadedcas) Summary: Cas strikes a deal with Chuck - keeping his family together comes at the price of their free will.

Why I love it: What if Cas got his revenge for the Mala'ak box? What if love came at the price of everything you've been fighting for? What if a story twisted the knife oh so sweetly? Each word of this one lands a punch. Made me insane in the best of ways (cue pinned fanart).

In sickness by @saintedcastiel (41K) Summary: S4 redux but Castiel has a fetish: giving Dean the sniffles.

Why I love it: This one is soooo. Can barely find words for it. It taps into Cas' early season alienness and psychosexual obsession with Dean, brilliantly demonstrates Casdean vs Samruby parallels, and each word is just. Perfect. ARGH!

so much smoke in a hall full of mirrors by AreYouReady (6K, @autisticandroids ) Summary: Godstiel is losing his heavenly war. Crowley provides a compliant Dean-doll for him to release his frustrations upon.

Why I love it: Urgh, this one is sooo dark. Taps into the scary, intimidating and alien aspects of Godstiel so well. Gore, consent and psychosexual issues galore. Delicious.

Special mention: In a Parked Car, Exhuming Ophelia by @an-android-in-a-tutu (17K). Still need to comment properly ;)

💣CATEGORY: EMOTIONAL WRECKING BALLS💣

Angsty fics that tear you to pieces to remake you better.

What Used To Be Mine by someonetoanyone (48K words) Summary: Dean never makes his apology prayer in Purgatory - Cas dies, Dean mourns.

Why I love it: Oh god, this is a heavy hitter. Just, straight up insurmontable grief, packaged in poetic, raw language to make you shed tears and tears. Loved it so much.

Ignite your bones By ilovehowyouletmefall (67K, @angelinthefire) Summary: Dean accepts Chuck's deal: killing Sam to save the world.

Why I love it: Cruuuuel cruel premise for a story that doesn’t pull its punches. It gets dark in Dean’s head and everyone around him suffers. Wonderfully written. The ending set my brain on fire.

Right Where you Left Me by outdean (93K, @armandgender)

Summary: Cas comes back from the Empty after 10 years to find Dean married to another man.

Why I love it: This one is a riiiide. When grief has become a part of you but your love comes back… When you return from the dead and have to carve a new space into the world for yourself... nothing is easy here, but the emotions are INTENSE. Also, autistic!Cas for the win.

Special mention: Who Ya Gonna Call? by saintedcastiel (50K) and Clear skies in spring by enochianprayer (WIP)

💥CATEGORY: EPIC RIDES💥

Expansive, wild adventures with lots of ups and downs

Spirit of the West by teen_dean (140K, @urne-buriall)

Summary: An 18y old Dean grew up on a horse farm – cue veterinarian Castiel. The summer of a lifetime ensues.

Why I love it: So this is one of my very favorite stories, ever ever, and I cannot recommand enough to immediatedly suscribe to the author’s Substack to be able to follow it in „real time“ next summer. It’s cinematic, rich, full of darkness and light, it’s everything a story can aspire to, I’m just. I just really love it.

Second Verse, Same as The First by LaLaCat1 (135K)

Summary: Endverse!Cas is sent back to the start of S1 and is determined to make things right this time round.

Why I love it: a desperate and badass Cas, unfridging everyone, a thrilling plot, moments of awesome for the entire cast, gripping action scenes, a romance for the ages… this is a genuinely amazing story.

back road, black road by eden22 (167K)

Summary: 18y old Sam gets kidnapped by Hell on his way to Stanford. Dean tries to deal.

Why I love it: So this one’s not Destiel-centric but does have wonderful Destiel moments. It’s also very heavy on the gore and the angst (NOT for the faint of stomach), but expertly crafted, fascinating and frankly it deserves more love. Held my breath for half the read and never knew where it’d take me.

Special mention: It's The End Of The World (As We Know It) by tiamatv (140K)

Uproariously funny stories about the intricate rituals these two weirdos get up too.

Why I love it: Dean coming to Big Self-Realizations while trying to have platonic threesomes with Cas is so perfect. Very endearing, tender and funny. Also, smoking hot sex.

Why I love it: Just. Late season Dean being deranged about Cas’ sexuality while everyone watches on in utter confusion. Equally hilarious and deeply moving

I love the fact that the Silvermane Guards are essentially just a very devoted "We Love Gepard Landau" fanclub, and I desperately need for all of them to get into ship wars about it behind their Captain's back. The soldiers are all split into several factions:

Some of them ship him with Sampo 🛡💣 (enemies to lovers/hateship enjoyers; this does not necessarily mean they like Sampo- in fact it's more like most of them want to sic their Captain on him skzjsmdm)

Some of them ship him with Bronya 👑🛡 (knight and princess trope enjoyers and also a sorta-kinda "that is our mom and dad" type of deal; this faction gets riled up and ridiculously hypes Gepard up to Bronya every time she comes down to the frontlines mskdkxmd)

Some of them ship him with the trailblazer 🛡💫 (the smallest and newest faction, but steadily gaining!)

Some of them ship him with Pela ❄🛡 (workplace romance enjoyers; Gepard once charged out into the Fragmentum alone to save Pela from an expedition gone horribly wrong, and when this faction saw Gepard carrying Pela back princess style they threw a whole party)

Some of them ship him with Dunn 🛡🗡 (also workplace romance; Dunn is very flattered by this because yeah wrong Landau, but wow, the troops really think he's good enough to woo the Captain, what an honor)

And some of them ship themselves with the Captain 🛡❤ (yumejoshi enjoyers; this faction throws a massive group effort every Valentine's Day and are also all very supportive of each other)

The final faction is an odd one, because they're defined not by who they ship their beloved Captain Gepard with, but rather by who they don't ship him with. Their name is generally shortened to the A.B.S. Group- Anybody BUT Sampo 🚫💣 DKSZJJSMSOZ

Specifically inspired by my childhood male pet cat who hated all men for some reason, so like what if readers cat hated man too, including Schatt and Ted and how would the two cope with the cat, especially with a reader who loves their cat more than life and treats the cat like their baby.

Schlatt had never been one to shy away from a challenge, but this was a whole different ballgame. Your cat perched on its favorite spot on the back of the couch. It glared at him like he was the ultimate enemy. And sure he’d faced some fierce opponents in his life, but none quite like this… A fluffy ball of fury with sharp claws and an aversion to his very existence.

“Come on, furball, what’s your deal with me, huh?” Schlatt muttered, holding out a treat. But as expected, the cat hissed in response, tail flicking with irritation. Schlatt glanced at you, half-amused, half-frustrated. “Your little demon hates me.”

You smiled sweetly from the kitchen, clearly unbothered. “He doesn’t hate you. He just… has trust issues with men.”

“Yeah, no kidding.” Schlatt muttered, stuffing the treat back in his pocket. He watched as you moved around, your attention on anything but the cold war happening between him and the cat. It stung a little, mostly because you loved your cat more than anything, and Schlatt just wanted to be a part of that little bubble.

Later that evening while you were reading on the couch your cat curled up contentedly on your lap. Schlatt sat beside you giving the animal plenty of space. “I’m telling you, it’s personal. I haven’t done a damn thing, and he acts like I kicked him.”

“He’s just protective,” you said, scratching behind the cat’s ears as it purred in contentment. “He doesn’t know how amazing you are yet.”

“Yeah? Doesn’t feel that way.” Schlatt crossed his arms, his eyes locked on the little furball a mix of determination and affection in his gaze. “You love him, so I gotta get him to love me. I’m not giving up.”

The next few days became a silent competition between Schlatt and the cat. He tried everything, treats, toys, even soft-talking to the feline when you weren’t around. But the cat, true to form, would hiss, swat, or flat-out ignore his every attempt.

One night after you’d fallen asleep on the couch with your cat beside you Schlatt sat on the floor, staring at the sleeping ball of fluff. “I get it, alright? You’re her baby. But you gotta cut me some slack here, man. I’m trying.” He spoke quietly as if not to wake you. “I’m not going anywhere, so maybe... ease up on the whole hating me thing?”

To his surprise the cat blinked lazily at him, but there was no immediate swipe. It was a small victory.

The breakthrough came a few nights later when Schlatt found himself alone with the cat while you ran out for groceries. He sat on the couch scrolling through his phone when the cat jumped up beside him. Schlatt froze, not daring to make a move.

“You finally gonna give me a chance, huh?” He murmured. The cat stared at him for a moment then slowly curled up at the farthest end of the couch. It wasn’t much, but for Schlatt, it was a win.

When you came home, you found Schlatt grinning, pointing at the cat. “Did you see that? Progress.”

You laughed softly, leaning over to kiss his cheek. “Looks like he’s starting to come around.”

Schlatt wrapped an arm around you, feeling triumphant. “I told you, babe. It’s only a matter of time before we’re best buddies. Just wait.”

From that point on, the cat’s hostility slowly lessened. And every time Schlatt got a bit closer, literally or figuratively, he’d look at you with that smug grin of his as if to say, See? Told you I’d win him over.

Because in the end, Schlatt knew there was no way he’d let a cat get in the way of the two things he loved most: you and your weird little family.

❥ Ted:

Ted had always considered himself a bit of an animal whisperer. Dogs loved him. Birds? Sure, they’d chirp at him from time to time. But your cat? Your beloved furball who, for reasons Ted couldn’t understand, seemed to despise him on sight? That was a different story.

“I don’t get it,” Ted said, standing a safe distance from where the cat was sprawled on your lap. The feline’s eyes were half-closed, but the moment Ted moved too close those eyes would snap open, ears flattening like a silent warning.

You giggled from your spot on the couch, running a hand through the cat’s fur. “He’s just picky. Besides, he’s never liked men. Nothing personal.”

Ted gave you a look, half-bewildered, half-amused. “How can it not be personal? I’ve been nothing but nice to him! Look, I even bought him treats.” He held up the bag of cat treats he’d picked up on his way over waving it like it was some peace offering.

Your cat of course was unimpressed.

“He’ll come around,” you said with a smile, completely confident in your cat’s ability to forgive. Ted, however, wasn’t so sure.

For the next few days, Ted became a man on a mission. If you loved your cat as much as you said you , and it was obvious that you adored the little furball, then Ted was going to win the feline over. That was just the way it had to be.

First, he tried some charm. He’d lean down, give the cat his most disarming smile and speak to it in the softest tone. “Hey, buddy. We don’t have to be enemies, you know? I’m a great guy. Your mom likes me. Maybe we could start over?”

The cat blinked slowly and then turned away, flicking its tail in Ted’s direction. He sighed.

Next came the food. Every time he came over Ted brought new treats, convinced that sooner or later, the cat would crack. But it seemed the feline’s hatred ran deep because not even the fanciest most expensive treats Ted could find would win him any favor. At most the cat would sniff the offering, glance at Ted with a smug “nice try” look then walk away.

You watched all of this with a mix of amusement and sympathy. “They’re stubborn,” you said one evening after Ted’s latest attempt at befriending your cat ended in failure. “But so are you.”

“Yeah but he’s winning,” Ted muttered, looking defeated as the cat curled up smugly on the other side of the room, far from him. “And I don’t like losing.”

Then one day while you were in the kitchen making tea Ted was alone in the living room with the cat. He sat on the floor, facing the animal, trying to bridge the unspoken divide. “Alright, listen up,” Ted began in a serious tone. “I get it. You’re the king of the castle. But I’m not trying to take your throne, okay? I just want to make her happy. And if that means you and I have to find some middle ground, then fine. Let’s do it.”

The cat blinked at him still looking unimpressed, but for the first time, it didn’t turn away.

Ted, feeling like he might have made some small progress, reached out carefully and the cat didn’t immediately swat at him. It wasn’t exactly purring in his lap but it was something. Ted’s heart swelled with hope.

You walked back into the room just in time to catch the tail end of the scene. “Wait, is he… is he letting you pet him?”

Ted grinned proudly, hand hovering above the cat’s head still wary but cautiously optimistic. “I think we’ve had a breakthrough.”

Ted glanced up at you, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. “Yeah, well, it only took me three bags of treats, a couple hours of groveling, and a motivational speech.”

But as if on cue, your cat did the unthinkable… He leaned into Ted’s hand, just a little, allowing the smallest of pats. Ted froze , his eyes wide in disbelief.

You gasped beaming at the sight. “He likes you!”

Ted chuckled his heart racing at the sight of your happiness. “Yeah, well, how could he not? I’m irresistible.” He teases

From that day forward, Ted and your cat were far from best friends, but there was a mutual understanding. The cat still gave him a hard time now and then but every once in a while, it would curl up near him. Even sometimes let him pet him without fuss. And each time that happened Ted would look at you with the biggest grin. Like he’d just won the world’s most important battle.

And maybe, in a way, he had.

One huge change. Shes now a frog 🐸 Was inspired by the glass frog but instead of her organs being exposed it's her skeleton! 💀 . Fits with her wild, high energy nature. Place I read a fact some big spiders have lil frogs around to keep their babies safe from predators, in return they get food & protection🐸🕷️! Figure it fits her and Angel's bond💖 I imagine she'd be Fat Nuggets Godmother💖🐷🕷️. CW frog insides

The 1st thing you did was play dodgeball and it was WAR when it started on your team was you, kiri, Kendo Monoma, Komori, and more while on the other team were Bakugo, teru, Ochako, Jirou, You Shoji, and WWDB (World war dodgeball) began, Soft Foam balls were flying everywhere bakugo, jirou monoma and kendo was sniping everyone on each other while the rest of you were dodging for your LIVES you were using every one of your team members as a human shield to dodge bakugos hits and to survive until it was one on one everyone started cheering for you gulped while bakugo had an evil grin on his face

Bakugo was Throwing balls so hard every time they hit the wall making a loud bang you were screaming playfully and dodging them while Bakugo taunted you about losing already "GIVE UP ROOMIE YOUR CORNERED" you panted tried to dodge the balls but was determined you were gonna win it for the team "NEVER! GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT" Bakugo grinned at your words and grabbed a blue foam ball and threw you you dived into the trampoline behind you but your leg got hit with the ball just when bakugo was about to shout for victory the ball bounced hard and hit bakugo in the face

I'll join right by you bakugo" the 2 men grabbed the beer cans readying themselves hakagure counted them down "3...2...1 DRINK" and the 2 teams drank away grabbing beer cans after beer cans

Each time we moved, we hoped it would be the last, but it never was. We paid exorbitant amounts of money, just for the chance to sleep in a safer place for one night. There was no peace. We lived out of suitcases, moving from shelter to shelter, never knowing where the next bomb would fall.

The Career I Paused, and the Dream I Hold On To 📈👩‍��🍉

Before the war, I had carved out a career for myself in freelancing 🌍. I worked with clients from around the world, translating documents and creating content. I loved my work—it gave me a sense of purpose and accomplishment. But since the war began, I have not been able to work. The constant fear, the need to keep moving, and the unreliable internet have made it impossible to maintain my freelancing career. My projects have been put on hold, my clients left in the dark, and the portfolio I worked so hard to build now feels like a distant memory. But I hold onto hope. I know that one day, I will return to my work, stronger and more determined than ever to rebuild everything that was taken from me.
